[Please ignore my serious face and my pushed-out belly lol. Thanks to everyone who has supported me on my splits journey. It's been since August and I appreciate all of the continued advice on my post.](https://i.redd.it/zhmbdcazwuf21.jpg)

The pushed-out belly is ok in my personal uneducated opinion. It's like a check for square hips, it's very awkward to do if your hips are tilted. AND it puts some weight into the splits to help you get lower. I'm sure it's best practice to take the arch out of the back at some point, but it's always a work in progress. I'm still working on touch-down too, we'll get there if we stay consistent!

    That's a nice progress!

Take the arch out of your lower back, it's a sign of lacking flexibility in the hip flexors. Once you reach the full splits you can work on arching your back and maybe grab your rear foot :D
